I’d say it’s inevitable, given that The Witch On The Holy Night (another visual novel from Type-Moon, the global release of which was taken as a sign that Tsukihime would be an eventuality) eventually received a PC release of its own.

That said, the actual timing is up to Aniplex and Type-Moon. I would say it’ll take a year or more.

I would say go for it if you feel like it. Some fan developers have even made a full web port of the original fan translation, which means you can play it in a browser!

That being said, the order you play the games does not matter too much. The remake is structured effectively for new readers, but I also got a lot of joy out of experiencing it as someone who read the original first. They don’t supplant each other and are considered complementary (though for purposes of marketing and promotion the remake is the “official” entry for all intents and purposes).

If there’s one main thing the original holds above the remake right now it’s that it contains the three “far side” routes that aren’t in the remake. Those routes are being rewritten and built upon for a future ‘2nd half’ remake that’s still in production, so if you do want to see what Kohaku, Hisui, and Akiha get up to in their routes, reading the original is currently your only option.

At the moment, the only info we have states a PlayStation and Switch version. No mention of this specific version getting a PC release, but it seems unlikely that they wouldn’t make it available on PC. My guess is that it’s just a matter of time.

Would it still be worth it to check out the original first if I’m curious?
