This was exhausting to read… Having gone through it and seen your points of complaint. I am genuinely confused as to why you like reading Gamecritics’s stuff

Bloodborne remake would be amazing INDEED!:)
But if you think about it, that is asking more of the same, what I think is the problem we both have with Elden: we have played too many souls.
Anyway, I am happy From gets the universal credit they deserve for sticking to its ideas and vision. I just think Elden it is not it’s best game. And I hope it gives them the resources and freedom to make the next special thing.
Anyway, we can agree that for a souls newcomer, Elden could be amazing.

The “objectivity” argument is so dumb and played out that I honestly don’t even have the energy to engage it with. I literally said in the review that I want games made by artists. Art is subjective by nature, and I will evaluate it as such.

It’s odd — you claim to want videogames to be appreciated on a higher level (not as “an 11-year-old’s toy,” as you said), yet your actual argument completely undermines that. You seem to want games evaluated as *products*, which runs absolutely contrary to how I view them. I’m not sure why you ever expected that from me or anyone else on this website.

As an aside, obviously I’ve gotten used to being yelled at for scoring a game too low. But it’s funny how I always get yelled at whenever I give a game my highest recommendation, as well. There is truly no winning on GC.

You perfectly expressed my thoughts good sir!

I mean, not so long ago, Mike wrote this incredibly critical, even cynical review of Ghost of Tsushima, which I thought was uncalled for. Sure, it is not a great game, but it is still a pretty decent game , and I felt like he was cherry picking all the shortcomings of the game and simply hating it just to prove that how hip and anti-mainstream he is.

Giving Elder Ring such uncritical praise and a full score after that review simply is inconsistent at best, and amoral at worst.

Sekiro and Bloodborne are examples of when From are at their best. I’m all for praising these titles. As you say, after 15 mins of ER you know what to expect. It’s really dull overall as it’s too “samey”.

A BluePoint remake of Bloodborne would be amazing, wouldn’t it? We can at least hope for that as a launch game for PS6. 😀

“Sadly, this review has fallen neatly in line with the existing hyperbolic consensus”

What if, and bear with me here because you might not be able to handle this, but what if the reviewer just genuinely really liked the game?

“I do disagree that what you deem acceptable as a “10/10” game in 2022, is acceptable to the rest of us”

Then . . . give it your own score, I guess? Nobody is stopping you.

unable to critically assess and analyse games with objectivity”

Assessment isn’t an objective process. Analyzing whether a video game is fun isn’t an objective process. Writing a review of a video game isn’t an objective process. Your whiny novel of a rant isn’t objective in any way, shape, or form.

Do you want him to learn to accept others opinions like you have just accepted his/hers?

After 15 minutes in, and had foight some goons, I just wanted to play bloodborne and sekiro (wich it is what I am actually doing instead of Elden ring).
I felt tired of the same. Although I have found joy and awe in Elden ring, I want the next thing from has to offer in hopes they will make something as special as bloodborne and sekiro.
