Fighting games were never my specialty. My childhood best friend would always beat me at Soulcalibur II, no matter which character I picked — Astaroth’s axe could only take me so far, and Raphael could never save me from defeat. However, despite my struggles, I still came back to it… and many others like it.
HIGH Amazing visuals. Top-notch controls.
LOW Occasional stuttering. Some weird translations here and there.
WTF Kuma hitting enemies with a giant trout is just… perfection.
HIGH Visuals are smoother than the dulcet tones of Peabo Bryson. (Look him up, young’uns…)
LOW The narrative is threadbare, which is odd for a popular anime series.
WTF The story and dialogue made me question my sobriety. Twice.
HIGH Finally starting to master characters and kick some ass.

So I've been thinking a lot about this Steam Greenlight thing for a couple of days, trying to come at it from a few different angles. I had originally written up a blog post about it, but after discussing it a little further with some (very smart) friends of mine, I decided to do something else.

My oldest son's summer vacation is over soon, just a couple of days left, but he managed to finish a few games while he was here. The second game he finished was Street Fighter X Tekken. Although it's not really a traditional game that you can "finish" in the sense that you've completed all quests or rescued the people in need, we went through the game with all available story-based pairs, so I'm calling that done.
So, the Mass Effect 3 "extended cut" DLC amending the old endings came out. It's a free add-on and I'm pretty sure it provides an auto-save right near the end of the game for those who may not have a file at the appropriate point—I was positive that I didn't, but when I booted the game up, there it was. It could be my imagination, but I'm guessing the developers included this save as part of the DLC to avoid further outcry.
I completed Lollipop Chainsaw the other night and my review is nearly complete. This was a fairly easy writeup for me since I didn't find much to praise… I'm certainly aware that Suda51 has his fans out there, but he's one of the most overrated creators in the games industry these days if you ask me, and this title just reinforces my opinion.
HIGH Seeing favorite Tekken characters do their trademark moves in a Capcom fighter.
LOW More beefed-out final boss characters with cheap AI? Really?
WTF Law's face didn't translate well to Capcom's art style. Just, yikes.
